Field to Future events are the practical touchpoints where industry participation, expert input and decision-making come together. These events support the annual Field to Future cycle and ensure that industry needs move efficiently from identification to funded innovation.

Provincial and Regional Focus Group Sessions
Facilitated sessions where producers, veterinarians, industry and technical experts identify, validate and refine real industry challenges.

Thematic Focus Group Workshops
Structured discussions aligned to the five Field to Future focus areas, translating needs into clear innovation problem statements.

Call for Proposals
Formal calls issued against approved priorities, inviting research institutions, industry partners and specialists to submit proposals.

Evaluation and Governance Meetings
Independent evaluation sessions and committee meetings where proposals are reviewed, prioritised and approved for funding.
The 2026 Field to Future process will follow a structured timeline
- May – June 2026:
RMIS distributed online questionnaires to producers and stakeholders to identify on-the-ground research and innovation needs
- 30 June – 2 July 2026:
Focus Group Sessions (These sessions will unpack questionnaire findings and explore additional ideas) - 30 June 2026: Animal Production, Value Chain Infrastructure & Processing
- 01 July 2026: Animal Health, Biosecurity & Vaccines
- 02 July 2026: Market Access, Trade & Consumer Insights
- 15 July 2026:
Evaluation Task Team (ETT).
Facilitators will form the core of the ETT, where all ideas will be evaluated and prioritised into research problem statements.
